Undefeated female boxer wants to become the Ronda Rousey of boxing

Talented female boxer Mikaela Mayer believes she has the potential to be the female boxing Ronda Rousey.

Two days ago, 10-0 boxer Mikaela Mayer spoke with TMZ and what she said left boxing and MMA fans wondering if she was serious.

TMZ Sports confirms that Mayer responded with a quick “Yeah!” when asked if she was the “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey of women’s boxing. Not just in terms of her skills in the ring, but also in terms of what Rousey has contributed to MMA. More specifically, how Ronda Rousey has inspired young female fighters.

“Yeah, the way she broke down the wall between women and MMA, created a market for women’s MMA fights. I 100% believe I can do that with Boxing,” Mayer affirmed.

Mayer then spoke on behalf of two other talented female boxers, Katie Taylor and Claressa Shields, saying: “We have an obligation to show the world that we can fight too. That our fights are beautiful and make a lot of money.”

Mayer believes that currently, women’s boxing has yet to gain the mainstream appeal that MMA has thanks to Rousey. Rousey’s career success is what drives Mayer to believe that boxing will one day become a popular sport among women.
